Hi Karen, I was a little surprised by Jason's answer too, although I can understand why he would prefer to downplay its importance at this stage. I think my follow-up questions re Mahalo's relationship with Google, would suggest that the exit 'du jour' i.e. get bought by Google may well have been plan A.

Alex,

Thanks for cornering Jason in the stairwell!

As Sam says, Jason makes a lot of sense, particularly re: giving content creators the choice of being rewarded.

I was intrigued when Jason said he didn't think about the exit strategy when going into business. Wouldn't you want to have some kind of idea of the types of businesses/people that may be interested buyers down the track? Sure it could change along the way, given the many variables. However, as you make deals, acquisitions, changes in direction etc. you need some understanding of impacts to your potential "exits".

What are other people's thoughts?

Cheers,
Karen
