How To Podcast for Small Businesses
By Alex Bellinger, 27th April 2007 at 11:14 am
Perhaps unsurprisingly, one of the questions I get asked most often is ‘how do I start podcasting for my business’?
Having started a business podcast back in the pre-history of podcasting (that’s March 2005, in case you were wondering
) I’ve picked up a few podcasting tips and tricks along the way.
So, I thought I’d begin the process of telling you everything I know - a how to podcast series, if you will! I’ll do this in text, screenshots, screencasts and video which I hope you’ll find useful. You’ll probably end up teaching me more than I teach you with a bit of luck, as we go along!
If you’d like a reminder when a new how to podcast post appears on this blog, just email me at howto@smallbizpod.co.uk.
First off here’s a starter for ten and some useful links to get you on your way:
- if you’re recording a skype conversation, don’t use a Skype phone, use a headset like this one from Logitech;
- to record a Skype conversation use an excellent piece of software called Pamela;
- or you could use the equally good SkyLook;
- to edit interviews or audio in general use the free audio editing software Audacity;
- when you’re not using Skype, but just want to record your own voice or a couple of people sitting next to you, get a USB microphone - much better quality than a usb skype headset;
- if you want to take a look at another way of recording your voice and also at some basic editing of audio in Audacity, then check out my how-to podcast video. Best viewed in Internet Explorer sadly, although it will play in firefox if you start play, then right click on the screen and play in full screen mode.
