Getting yourself out there

Two events may be worth looking at this week and next. For those of you who didn’t know, the Ideal Business Show is on at Earl’s Court 2 this week. As a self-employed person it’s just the sort of thing I ought to attend but like a lot of business owners, albeit a bit of a minnow, I don’t have the spare capacity. Which is a shame. Anyone with a good business idea for which they want backing could do worse than to fetch up and audition for the next series of Dragon’s Den, which you can do at the show; personally I’d rather have root canal work without pain killers but each to their own.
Next week, meanwhile, sees another London event - BT is turning Finsbury Square into a beach for ten days starting next Monday to prove that you can work anywhere. I hope to pop along myself and maybe prepare a report for BBC London.
Call me old-fashioned, though, but I’d always thought the whole point of going to a beach was to relax rather than do even more work…
