Employee Productivity In UK Rises
By SmallBizPod, 27th September 2007 at 9:56
Official statistics released today by the Office of National Statistics (ONS) show increased staff productivity, with output per worker up 2.7% in Q2 compared to the same period last year.
Manufacturing output per hour increased by 2.9% compared to the previous year, maintaining good growth compared to the service sector (3.0%) and the market sector (2.3%).
Total productivity growth for the whole economy fell slightly, however, by 0.1% to 2.7%.
The UK still seems to lag behind many industrialised nations when it comes to productivity. Italy, France, the G7 average and the US all achieve greater national output efficiency than the UK according to the latest available data.
