SME Glory For Dragon’s Den Reject

appliedtranslation Gavin Wheeldon, CEO of innovative translation service, Applied Language Solutions, may not have done enough to persuade BBC2’s Dragons to invest, but the success of his business has won his company the title of Axa Small and Medium Sized Business of The Year at the National Business Awards.

The Huddersfield-based business has seen rapid growth going from one man in a back bedroom in 2003 to a global business with offices in California, Paris, Barcelona, Bulgaria and Guatemala.  Its scalability caught the eye of judges.  Paul McMahon at Axa said:

… they have an excellent model that has shifted the market place materially. They are an outstanding business performer with strong and inspirational leadership that has a tremendous focus on building a winning culture irrespective of geography.
