PAYE deadline looms for employers
By SmallBizPod, 1st May 2008 at 12:50
HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) is encouraging employers to file their PAYE year end returns by 19th May or run the risk of facing a penalty. Despite the ups and downs of various HMRC online filing systems, firms with under 50 employees are being urged to file over the internet.
Smaller firms are being given a £100 tax-free incentive if they choose to file online rather than on paper.
In order to do this companies must apply for an activation pin as part of the registration process which can take up to a week to arrive. It’s therefore recommended to move quickly, if you want to get your return in online ahead of the 19th May deadline.
Further details can be found at the HMRC website above and a video podcast explaining filing online can be found at www.hmrc.gov.uk/podcasts.
It ought to be available on YouTube too, I reckon, but isn’t!
