Nurturing the next generation of social entrepreneurs

The Chrysalis School for Young Social Entrepreneurs in Kampala, Uganda, empowers children between 7 and 11 years old to be change makers in their communities and shows them how to sustain their own social enterprise projects. Founded by Social Enterprise Africa, the Chrysalis School, whose motto is “Spread your wings and fly”, selects young change makers who have a passion to develop their communities from villages, slum districts and rural areas.

Social Enterprise Africa is about tackling social problems and improving communities and people’s life chances. Its mission is to see that:

• At least one child in every village in Africa is educated to a good standard and trained to be an ethical change maker with good links to the outside world and the means to communicate with them.
• These children grow up with the means to eliminate poverty through social enterprise and minimize the chance of famine through planning and good management.
• The abuse of children’s and women’s rights in rural Africa is removed through raising awareness of international standards amongst these children.
