Yup, that’s SmallBizPod.  As some of you will have heard already, I’m really pleased to say that Bibby Financial Services has come on board to sponsor SmallBizPod for the next six months.  Interest from potential sponsors over the last four to five months has been entirely unsolicited on my part, but much appreciated.

Does the sponsorship matter?  Well in terms of you the listeners out there, I hope you’ll applaud Bibby’s support for a show that I love producing and I know many of you love listening to.  Editorial independence will, as always, remain paramount, and in choosing a sponsor I was also very aware that they had to fit in.  Bibby certainly does that.  It’s a 200 year old family business success story and its speciality is managing cash flow.  They’re one of us.

With a bit of luck the only major change you’ll notice about SmallBizPod over the next six months or so will be more podcasts, more regularly – something that many of you have asked for and which up until now I’ve failed to deliver.  I’m also planning on adding other sections and features to SmallBizPod in Q1 which I hope you’ll also find valuable, practical and entertaining.

I think today’s news also shows that there is a potential revenue stream for independent podcasters, if they want it, on their own terms.  As all of us ‘indies’ know it’s damn hard work putting together a podcast regularly, so a little financial recognition is very much appreciated.

But when all said and done, the most powerful effect of podcasting remains the connection we all make as listeners and producers.  There’s nothing quite like it and whilst that’s there you can expect me to be podcasting well into my dotage!
