Dragon’s Den star Theo Paphitis seeks innovative products for high street retailers in new BBC reality show.
It’s often said the UK is a nation of inventors. Well, a new TV series from the BBC, backed by Theo Paphitis of Dragon’s Den, is on the hunt for people who’ve designed products they think should be sold on the high street.
Some of you will remember the series of blog posts on SmallBizPod from Rowena Mead about her journey to design and market a new children’s toothbrush.
Her fortunes were mixed, but it’s exactly this kind of idea that the new BBC series is hoping to discover.
Thanks to Theo’s contacts, inventors will be able to get their products in front of some of the most influential retail buyers on the high street.
What’s not clear at this stage is whether the series is going to take a car crash TV approach to innovation, allowing no-hopers in for a laugh, or whether it’ll be a more serious look at bringing new products to the mass market.
Anyone interested in pitching their product for the show should contact the production company Maverick Television on 0207 874 6617 or highstreet@mavericktv.co.uk.
