Official figures just released show the number of liquidations in England and Wales during the fourth quarter of 2006 fell by 1.4% compared to the previous quarter.
Of the total of 3,194 liquidations, however, 1,411 were compulsory – a rise of 4.9% on Q3 and of 9.7% compared to the same period in 2005.
Mixed messages, but with many economists still anticipating higher interest rates this year, small businesses with borrowing commitments may find repayments more difficult. Expect insolvency figures to rise during 2007.
