SME News2012 Olympics Supports SME Procurement
New site makes it easier for SMEs to become London 2012 suppliers.
Small businesses can now more easily grab themselves a slice of the 2012 Olympics action, by tendering to become suppliers through the newly launched London 2012 Business Network.
Launched by the Olympic Delivery Authority, the site aims to address concerns that SMEs may be frozen out of the procurement process for one of the world’s biggest ever sporting events.
John Wright, National Chairman of the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), welcomed the news:
The delivery of the London 2012 Games will provide opportunities for businesses of all sizes in many sectors. We welcome the launch of the London 2012 Business Network and urge small businesses to get involved.
We are particularly pleased that large contractors will be compelled to make public, via the network, the sub-contracting opportunities that will be most suited to smaller companies.
The FSB warns, however, that opportunities for smaller businesses outside existing contractors’ supply chains may be limited.
