Business Link checking the health of your businessOver the last few weeks Business Link has been keen to point out companies large and small across the country are entitled to a free business health check.

These check-ups aim to provide an impartial, objective assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of businesses and Business Link claims they are tailored to the needs of specific sectors.

The service includes:

  • developing a financial strategy to maximise cash flow;
  • identifying opportunities and effective tactics to boost sales;
  • building resilience to lead the business through the changing economic and market climate;
  • creating a clear action plan to achieve your business goals.

Clearly the depth of this review, if conducted online, is likely to be somewhat limited, but a face-to-face check-up, if you can find yourself a knowledgeable Business Link adviser for your sector in your region could prove valuable.

There are currently around 1,500 advisers spread across English RDA regions.

Mileage will no doubt vary.  Some advisers have failed to prove their worth.

Nevertheless, some businesses have found the service useful.

Tanya Rostron of water cooler supplier Water At Work says:

In order for businesses to trade through the market they need to take stock of their current markets and products and look for opportunities.

Tanya found Business Link’s SWOT analysis worked for her.
